Chris’ Cool Cars: Corvette Z06

Did you see it? Last week Chevrolet unveiled the new Corvette Z06. If you ask me it doesn’t look that different from the regular Vette, but the cool wing on the back tells you it’s something special.

What is really special about it is the engine, the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 ever produced. No supercharger, no turbo, just 670bhp from a 5.5-litre V8 that revs to 8,600 RPM thanks to its flat-plane crank design.

The 8-speed DCT paddle-shift transmission is your only option, so no manual for you purists, but you can shift as fast as the DCT anyway. However, you do get to choose between a hardtop or convertible. And let’s not forget about the awesome carbon fiber wheels.

No price yet, and no performance figures either, but the new Z06 is definitely coming soon. It will be hand-built in Kentucky and will come signed by the technician who worked on it from start to finish.
