Chris’ Cool Cars: Morgan Plus Four CX-T
The Morgan Plus Four was already a cool car. Old World design and aesthetic on the outside with modern technology underneath. How do you make it even cooler? Well, you jack up the suspension, add some skid plates, a cool luggage rack, driving lights and off-road tires.
It’s not an off-roader, but what Morgan likes to call an “adventure car”, but it can comfortably go just about everywhere you need it to. Morgan started with their Plus Four Roadster, which comes with a 255-hp version of BMW’s B48 turbo four-cylinder and a six-speed manual gearbox. Then, the clever engineers beefed up the suspension to increase travel and improve it’s off-road capabilities. The ground clearance went from 4.7 inches to 9.6 inches, and everything under the car is protected by guards, shields and undertrays. The bodywork has also been updated with special accommodations.
Unfortunately only eight CX-Ts are being built, and they are all sold. Even more sad is the fact that none of them are coming to America. Such a shame, but at least there are a handful of them running around, which is more that you can say for some new concepts.
