We are coming up on Thanksgiving, which means Black Friday and Cyber Monday are right around the corner, but one of my favorite things to come from the commercialization of the holidays is Giving Tuesday. Helping people and serving others is one of the secrets to finding your own success and happiness in life. Winston Churchill said it best…
“We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give.”
Happiness doesn’t come from the business success we achieve, the money we make or the things we accumulate. It comes from living with heart by embarking on endeavors that have the potential to bring greater meaning and more lasting satisfaction to your lives.
Our country and even our world has been doing some soul searching lately. We seem to be plagued with many problems… pandemics, inflation, climate change, poverty and more! These problem seem insurmountable to most. They are big problems that will require big solutions. Nonetheless, even if we can’t individually solve the world’s biggest problems, with a little creativity and a commitment to do something, each of us can find a way to make a difference.
Giving of our time, talents and even financial resources creates a ripple effect, an impact that can be made each and every day of our lives. Here’s another wonderful quote from Desmond Tutu…
“Do your little bit of good where you are; it’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.”
Giving back by being of service to your fellow man is an amazing thing. Sometimes you don’t get to see the impact you make, but sometimes you do, and it’s a wonderful feeling knowing that one person, you have the power to make a difference.
